This route highlights the region’s diverse terrain, from smooth tarmac and hard-packed gravel to twisty, technical sections. We’ll start along the flat gravel paths that twist along the Riu Ter, then climb through shaded forest roads on a mix of dirt and pavement to the Sanctuary of Els Àngels—famously the site of DalÃ’s wedding. After a scenic lunch with panoramic views of Girona, descend a steep, winding gravel track back to town. Conquer Rocacorba—the Queen Stage
Overview
Start your day with a strong coffee and a hearty breakfast before tackling the queen stage of your trip. Today’s route winds through the quiet Catalan countryside, past stone farmhouses, gentle waterways, and the town of Banyoles, where the 1992 Barcelona Olympic rowing events were held. Refuel with coffee and cake before taking on one of Girona’s most iconic climbs—Rocacorba. This winding 6-mile (10 km) ascent is a true test, but the sweeping views from the summit make every pedal stroke worthwhile. Prefer a steadier ride? Opt for the alternative route over La Mota and its punchy climbs before descending to a well-earned Catalan feast at a charming food truck in Canet d’Adri. End the day with a relaxed spin back into town, then gather tonight for a celebratory dinner to relive an unforgettable week of gravel adventures.
